Full Circle in Rishon Letzion
On Friday, I joined up with our volunteers in Rishon Letzion and we hit the streets with a very lively and productive campaign push. At one point, a man in Chassidic garb came over to me from a Chabad stand nearby. Something about his eyes was familiar, but I couldn’t place him.
He shook my hand warmly and said: “23 years ago, I looked completely different. We followed you in blocking the Rose Garden intersection as part of the Zo Artzeinu protests against Oslo. In the evening, all those arrested were brought to the Rishon Letzion police station and then you gave a speech. You told us to keep our arrest paper. You said that in another 20 years, when our grandchildren would ask us what we did to safeguard our State from this insanity, we would be able to show them that we were arrested for trying to stop it.”
“So listen”, the Chassid continued. “I kept that paper. And last week my grandson asked me that exact question, and I showed him the paper…”
