    Equality or Liberty?

    Equality or Liberty?

In a speech to the leadership of the Scouts movement, I explained a simple principle. The more “rights” that we demand of the state, the more that we are depositing in its hands, and essentially giving up, our liberties. When I was asked about equality as opposed to liberty, I answered that equality can only be found in the line for bread in the Soviet Union. Zehut strives for prosperity and quality of life – not equality. #Scouts #equality #liberty

Religion and State in Israel : An Interview with Moshe Feiglin on Israel Army Radio

Your stand is a bit complex and very interesting. You say that Health Minister Litzman, (editor: who resigned from the government on Friday due to desecration of the Shabbat by state-funded train construction) is completely right. On the other hand, you say that on questions of Shabbat observance of privately owned supermarkets and on public transportation, every community should decide for itself. Please explain the dissonance between Litzman’s stand and your own. There is d

    Simply Because it Can

How is it that one million citizens of Israel have a police file? Is every eighth citizen here a criminal? The answer is simple. Every state and governing authority will take liberties for itself at the expense of its citizens, if they will allow it. And in Israel, the citizens allow it. The police department has filed every eighth citizen in Israel as a criminal. Simply because it can. In the absence of a culture of liberty, enslavement filters slowly down. It is almost alwa

    No Biometric ID For Me

As 'expected,' the biometric identity card trial was 'successful' and now Minister of Interior Aryeh Deri has announced that Israel will require all of its citizens to register for a biometric ID card. With all due respect to Minister Deri, who signed the new regulation, I have no intention of giving my fingerprints to the State of my own free will. I also have no intention of being photographed for the biometric data base. My identity is simply mine – not the State's. The St

Biometric Passports: A Question of Liberty

The picture above was taken last week. Israeli citizens returning home after a tiring flight are allotted one passport check counter as they enter the country. (Visitors to Israel are allotted five). “Register for a biometric passport,” explain the airport workers. In other words, either let us mark you like animals and store your personal information in a database that will necessarily leak or we will keep you in line until you despair. The biometric issue is really part of
